Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

Welcome to Guardrails

Guardrails is a faith-based accountability app that helps people stay on the road toward the life God created them to live — through supportive groups, check-ins, prayer, and encouragement. By creating an account and using Guardrails, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please use the app with honesty, kindness, and respect for other members.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for the activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up, and keep your profile up to date so your group can reach you.

Text messaging (SMS) program terms

Program description. If you opt in, Guardrails will send you automated text messages such as check-in reminders, group activity notifications, prayer requests, and encouragement.

Opting in. You provide your consent by entering your mobile number and checking the SMS consent box during sign-up, or by turning on text messages in your profile. Consent is not a condition of using Guardrails.

Message frequency. Message frequency varies. You may receive recurring messages based on your activity and your group’s activity.

Message & data rates. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

Opting out & help. Reply STOP to any message to cancel at any time; you will receive a confirmation and then no further messages. Reply HELP for help. You can also turn text messages off anytime in your profile settings.

Carrier disclaimer. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is not guaranteed.

Acceptable use

Guardrails is a place of grace. Do not use the app to harass, threaten, or harm others, to share unlawful content, or to misuse another member’s personal information. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Not a substitute for professional care

Guardrails is a peer accountability and encouragement tool. It is not a substitute for a pastor, licensed counselor, therapist, psychiatrist, or any other medical or mental-health professional. The AI Companion feature uses artificial intelligence to offer encouragement and scripture — it is not a licensed provider and cannot diagnose, treat, or counsel.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or any emergency — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. You may also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988 (available 24/7) or the Crisis Text Line by texting HOME to 741741.

By using Guardrails you acknowledge that the app, its content, its AI features, and the messages or encouragement you receive from other members do not constitute professional advice, therapy, or medical care. You agree that Guardrails, its founders, team members, group leaders, and volunteers are not responsible for any decisions you make or actions you take based on content within the app.

Assumption of risk & release of liability

You understand and agree that your use of Guardrails is entirely at your own risk. Guardrails is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and hold harmless Guardrails, its owners, officers, employees, volunteers, group leaders, and affiliates from any and all claims, damages, losses, or liabilities — including but not limited to physical injury, emotional distress, self-harm, or death — arising from or related to your use of the app, reliance on its content (including AI-generated content), or interactions with other members.

In no event shall Guardrails be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.

Termination

You may stop using Guardrails and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that put the safety of the community at risk.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Guardrails is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Guardrails after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
